“Confusing” is the easy way of understanding health guidelines. At Paul L. Evans, DDS, we want you to have robust oral health wherever you may be, whether that’s in our office, at home, at work or anywhere else. Here are a few mouth-healthy snacks that you can rest easy eating (and drinking).

Leafy greens. Leafy greens like spinach are chock-full of minerals and vitamins that do miracles for your health. The folic acid they contain is awesome for your gums, and they are also good sources of protein.

Water. Sure, water is a drink, but the benefits of drinking it are so awesome for your pearly whites that we had to include it. When you drink water, you flush out debris and bacteria from your mouth. Once bacteria are washed away, your teeth become less likely to erosion and your mouth becomes healthier.

Yogurt. Yogurt contains bacteria called probiotics which push out detrimental bacteria from your gums. And like cheese, yogurt has protein and calcium to fortify your teeth. If you do go for yogurt, don’t opt to get any with added sugar. Instead, choose for natural varieties like organic Greek yogurt.

If you would like to hear about additional foods that strengthen dental health, please give Dr. Paul L. Evans and Paul L. Evans, DDS in Grass Valley, California, a call at 530.273.4442 to schedule an appointment.
