Every business has its most important asset or "secret weapon." Our dental practice is no different. Our staff is that secret weapon that makes us unique and special among the many other dental offices in the area. We not only work together, but we also spend time together away from the office! That is a testimony of the friendship and camaraderie we share.
From the moment that you make your first phone call you'll become adopted into the care of these very special people. I am proud to introduce them to you:
Paul L. Evans, DDS
Dr. Paul Evans comes from a family of dentists. His father practices in Los Gatos, California, and his brother-in-law practices in St. George, Utah. Following in the tradition of his family, as well as that of Dr. Smith, Dr. Evans practices mercury-free dentistry.
Dr. Evans is a graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. He and his wife, Susan, have been married nearly 20 years. They have three children and love the lifestyle that the Grass Valley - Nevada City area offers their family.
Dr. Paul Evans believes in providing each of his patients with personalized care and attention. Careful listening and understanding of their desires, and clear communication of the treatment goals, are of the highest importance to Dr. Evans.
After graduating from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, Paul Evans, DDS, participated in a group practice in Roseville, California. He then moved to Grass Valley in 2004 and joined the cosmetic dental practice of Dr. Stephen Smith. In January of 2007, Dr. Evans purchased the practice of Dr. Stephen Smith. Being able to follow in the footsteps of such an excellent and respected dentist as Dr. Smith was an honor and privilege for Dr. Evans.
Dr. Evans spends many hours pursuing post-graduate education to sharpen his skills and expand his knowledge. To that end, Dr. Paul Evans is a member of the following organizations:

- California Dental Association
- Butte-Sierra Dental Society
- Academy of General Dentistry
- International Association of Mercury-Free Dentists
Dr. Paul Evans is actively pursuing a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and is also a graduate of Total Team Advantage, an extensive, hands-on, cosmetic dentistry course. Dr. Evans is also in the process of adding the latest technology to his office to keep the practice on the cutting edge.
Shari - Office Manager and Team Leader;
Having been with us the longest, Shari is well known and loved by our long-time patients. Her experience is an invaluable asset to our office! Shari takes care of the business end of things as well as scheduling, financial arrangements and treatment planning. In addition, Shari is one of our team leaders who is responsible for all the activity of the front office and is involved in key decisions for the practice in general. On a personal side, Shari is well traveled, is always ready to have fun and is a grandmother to one very cute little girl.
Tamra (RDA) - Lead Dental Assistant and Team Leader;
Tamra is a born leader with a strong work ethic, a penchant for getting things done and seeing that our patients are well taken care of. Many years of service in the dental profession have provided her with a great deal of skill and knowledge. Tamra works chair side, but also handles inventory, coordinating lab services, Zoom Whitening treatments and just about everything to do with keeping the back office running smoothly. As one of our Team Leaders, Tamra is also involved in the decision making process of the office. Tamra is very involved in the activities of her two daughters, is active in her own athletic pursuits and has a terrific sense of humor.
Julie (RDH) - Dental Hygienist
Julie graduated from hygiene school at Hayward College after getting her BA from JFK University, working to get her master's degree in psychology and serving in the Peace Corps. Having worked for many years in a periodontal specialist's office has given Julie tremendous knowledge and ability in helping our patients regain and/or maintain good oral health. Julie's gentle touch makes for a comfortable hygiene experience every time. At home, Julie enjoys just about anything outdoors, especially gardening and hiking.
Mary (RDH) - Dental Hygienist
Mary's hometown is San Jose and she is a graduate of the hygiene school at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mary is extremely talented in her field and has a knack of providing excellent care with a soft touch. Years of experience makes Mary invaluable to her patients because she is able to provide useful advice and insight in caring for their oral health. Patients also enjoy Mary because of her easy-going personality, which puts them at ease right away. Whenever possible, Mary likes bike riding in the foothills and snow skiing with her family.
Sheri (DA) - Dental Assistant
Sheri had a background in assisting in an orthodontic specialistŐs office before joining us. She is an excellent assistant and is currently pursuing her RDA designation. Sheri has an incredibly cheerful chair-side manner that all of our patients find infectious. She is very active outside of the office riding her quad runner, four wheeling and anything else that would make her mother nervous.
